International School Moshi has an extensive Community Service programme with a wide variety of activities ranging from teaching swimming to children at a nearby day-care centre, visiting long-stay patients at a local hospital, playing sports with boys at a home for street children, to the 'Hard Labour' group which assists with construction projects in the local community.
One recent project for the 'Hard Labour' group involved reconstructing a bridge between villages further up the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. A number of local people had recently been drowned when trying to cross this river.
The 'Hard Labour' group has been composed mostly of IB students, but recently many S4 and S5 students have also become involved.
