Community Service - A Maasai School

In September 2000 ISM's "Hard Labour" Community Service group was on the move again. This time we went to Nomeuti, a Maasai village in the Blue Mountains, where two duplexes and three classrooms are in the process of being completed. In order to make the teachers' lives more comfortable the first priority was to make their living accomodation more habitable. So we spent the weekend marking levels for the actual floors, hauling water up from the river, collecting building sand, making the concrete and finally laying it on the two floors.

Hot! Windy! Dusty! Spiders! Centipedes! A great time was had by all!

We revisited Nomeuti in February 2001. Click here for more pictures
