At the beginning of March 2000, International School Moshi celebrated our Hands Across Africa week on both campuses. Hands Across Africa is now a major movement in international schools across the continent to ensure that our students have a good understanding of the peoples, culture and natural environment of Africa. Through embedding these areas into the curriculum we aim to raise students' awareness of African perspectives and issues.Hands Across Africa
Hands Across AfricaIt was a fascinating and inspiring week. Primary students in Arusha campus were engaged in a wide variety of activities from Maasai spear-throwing and sandal-making to story-telling and Ethiopian bread-making, whilst their Moshi campus counterparts enjoyed batik printing, oil painting, and African doll-making. Secondary students worked on special African projects in various subject areas - from African Architecture through mathematical mat weaving to Francophone African studies.
A major part of the week's programme was the visit of the Usinga Centre for Dance and Music who spent two days on each campus providing workshops on mime, dance and drumming. Their visits culminated in a splendid performance by the members of the Centre.
