Boarding News: 17 August 07

  17 August 2007

Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of our first week, I would like to emphasise our vision for this year, particularly our aim to create an excellent study environment. In the last three years I have been comparing the results of day students with those of boarders. In each of these years boarders performed better than day students on average on their IB diploma examinations.

We hope these excellent results will continue. We will endeavour to assure that they do. This week students have had a chance to get back into a regular study routine, as well as enjoy a variety of activities. It is not all study at ISM, we also believe students must be well-balanced to be healthy.

We enjoyed a special meal in the dining hall on Wednesday, which included homemade pasta and pizza. Later in the evening - after study hall - a football match in Karibu Hall saw the Middle Years students defeat the Diploma Years classes in indoor football. On Thursday night I prepared snacks at my place for residents. They enjoyed the ‘homey’ setting.

It has been an active and invigorating week. We are all ready for a restful weekend. If you are seeing you children this weekend, enjoy their company. If not, please remember to write them or call them regularly.

Best wishes!
Sincerely,
Richard
