International School Moshi
Moshi Campus News - 12 January 2007

This newsletter is sent to all parents of students in Moshi Campus whose email addresses we have on file. If you know of a parent who is not receiving these newsletters, please let me know so that their address can be added to the mailing list. Recent past newsletters are available to view at www.ismoshi.org/ParentNews.htm.

New Year

We would like to wish all parents, students and other members of the ISM community very happy and successful 2007!

Term Two

Classes begin on the Moshi Campus at the usual time of 07:30 on Tuesday, 16th January. Boarders are asked to arrive on Monday afternoon between 12:00 and 17:00. Please let Richard Eaton or your child's boarding parent know if you need any help with transport arrangements (such as airport pick-up) or if your child is not able to return by 17:00.

New Fence

As most parents will know a new fence was erected around the Moshi Campus last term. The campus can be accessed from the main gate on Lema Road at all times, but the pedestrian gate near the Health Centre will only be open between 6:15am and 6:15pm daily for access by day students who live near to the south side of the school.

Car Park

The main car park has also been re-modelled and a new traffic flow system comes into operation this week. If entering the main gate, please then turn left into the car park. There you may either park your vehicle or drop off your children. Entry to the main area of the school will now be restricted to school and delivery vehicles only.

Student Teacher

This term we will be welcoming Rick Blasi to the school. Mr Blasi is presently training as a teacher in The College of New Jersey and will be with us for much of this term teaching mathematics in a number of different classes. His work will initially be with Mr Moyale.

Seeking Accommodation

I have received an email from a recent Yale graduate who is seeking a home-stay in Moshi for the period February 3rd to April 1st. Please email me if you may be able to help her and would like to see her resumé.

Website

Two recent additions to the school website are the December Summit magazine and a video of December's sports weekend.

Upcoming events

The calendar for term two is available on the website at Calendar.htm. Events in January include the S1 Campcraft trip on January 27th and the S5/IB2 mock exams which start on January 29th.

Internet Use

Before using the internet in school for research or communications purposes, students are asked to sign and accept the School's Internet Use policy. We will shortly be sending a copy of this policy to all parents and asking that they witness their child's signature if they wish their child to access the Internet in school. The policy is currently available to view at www.ismoshi.org/internet.pdf.

IB Regulations

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) now also has an instruction that every parent of a child studying in an IB programme (Diploma, MYP or PYP) must sign acceptance of the IB's general regulations. We will be sending these regulations to all parents in the coming week.
Please remember that the recent Moshi Campus newsletters and also those from the Heads of Boarding and Primary, as well as Arusha campus newsletters are available to view at www.ismoshi.org/ParentNews.htm.
