S1 Campcraft TripMany of the S1 students will be joining their counterparts from Arusha Campus this weekend to learn some of the skills needed for camping outdoors. | |
Mock ExaminationsThe S5 and IB2 students begin their mock IGCSE and IB written examinations on Monday, 29th January. These are designed to give the students the experience of working within an examination timetable and to help them to identify the areas they will need to focus on in the months ahead as they prepare for final exams. These written exams will finish on 5th February after which normal classes will continue. | |
S4 Work ExperienceOur S4 students will be spending the week of 29th January to 2nd February undertaking work experience with an employer in Moshi or Arusha. During the week they will also be visited by an ISM teacher. We would like to thank those who have kindly assisted this programme by offering to support and supervise one of our students. | |
School FeesI would like to remind parents that the final instalment of school fees for this school year is due by 1st February 2007. In particular circumstances we are able to make alternative arrangements for those parents who notify us of difficulties before this date. Please contact me as soon as possible if you wish to discuss this. | |
Horse RidingInvoices will be sent out shortly for those students who have opted for horse riding lessons this term at a cost of TSh 80,000/-. This fee includes all lessons and also other access to the stables as agreed with Terrie Emmanuel. If your child is going to miss a scheduled lesson, please ensure that Mrs Emmanuel is informed in advance and an alternative lesson time is arranged. For students who will be taking lessons for the first time this school year, parents should first sign a consent form. | |
House Swap in ThailandSome teachers living in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand are asking if there is any family in Moshi who would like to discuss a house swap for mid-June to mid-July. If you are interested, please let me know. | |
ABRSM Music Practical ExaminationsThe music examiner will be visiting Moshi/Arusha on about 18/19 May 2007. Registrations for these practical exams should be made with Mr Jones by the end of February. | |
IB1 Field StudyAll the IB1 students will be visiting Pangani next week (January 30th - February 2nd) to undertake various pieces of science course work. They will be staying at the school's house, Kiraha. | |
New TeachersAs is usual at this time of year, we are in the process of interviewing potential new teachers to join us for August. Kathy Slocombe and I will be travelling to London next week to attend an international schools recruitment fair and to conduct a number of interviews. Richard Eaton will be acting Head of Campus in my absence from 31st January to 7th February. | |
MYP AuthorizationIn mid-February, we will be welcoming two visitors from the International Baccalaureate Organization who will be compiling a report on the school's readiness to be finally authorized as an MYP school. This authorization will ensure that our students can have their work externally moderated and can receive formal MYP certificates when they complete S5. | |
S1 Field StudyThe S1 students from both campuses will be undertaking field study in Manyara and Ngorogoro from 6th to 9th February. | |
