Letter from the CEO; 7 September 07

  7 September 2007

Dear Parents,

For several years now, ISM has been experiencing declining enrolment and this trend has continued this year. In the past few years the School has tried several marketing initiatives aimed at reversing this trend, especially focussing on recruiting students from abroad. Unfortunately, these efforts have not yet been successful.

We do believe that there is a market for an IB education in East Africa, but the greatest impediment for many East African nationals and other families to join ISM is the fee level. To address the enrolment issue, this week the ISM Board of Directors endorsed a new combined tuition and boarding fee package for students from P3 to M4. This offer will enable new boarding students in these classes to enrol for the same price as day students. Increased enrolment will increase the School’s income without any significant increase in our operational costs since many of our expenses are already committed. We have capacity in our boarding houses to accept more students and it would be of considerable benefit to the School and to our current students for more students to be enrolled in these classes.

One of the school’s aims is to keep the costs down for all parents on both campuses and this will only be achieved if ISM’s total enrolment is increased. We believe that combining a more attractive tuition/boarding package with the excellent programme our teachers deliver should resonate with local Tanzanian families with the means to consider ISM for their children. I am asking parents to help us promote the offer to families you feel might be interested. In the end, more students attending at ISM will benefit our entire community.

More information on this fees package is available on our website at www.ismoshi.org/fees. If you know of any families who might be interested, please ask them to contact Keiron White at for further details.

Best Regards,
