Dear Parents: Student PhotosLast week a photographer visited the Moshi Campus and took individual and class photos of all students. These are now available to purchase and you can preview thumbnails of the photos at www.ismoshi.org/portrait.htm. Instructions for ordering are also given on the same pages. Unfortunately the kindergarten photos and some of the D1 girls' photos have been delayed, but I hope to be able to post these soon. There are some excellent portrait photos and prices start from TSh 5000/- depending on size.Parents' AssociationThe new ISM Parents' Association was inaugurated on Tuesday afternoon at KIA Lodge. We are very pleased that Sylvia Vlaskamp, Satti Bhamra, Christine Baissac and Pauline Martin will continue to serve as parents' representatives and we welcome Sandra Kusserow and Joyce Msengi-Mullings on to the committee. At their first meeting, the committee will elect their officers and will determine how to fill the remaining two places on the committee which are open to parents who have a child in Arusha Campus. The minutes of the PA AGM will be circulated to all parents in due course.A pair of spectacles was left behind at KIA Lodge. If these are yours, please let me know. World Aids DayWith the quick approach of World AIDS day on December 1st, the M3 Life Skills class is working to make ISM more aware of AIDS around the world. In addition to our information campaign we would also like to "adopt" a family for whom we will undertake a food drive. When one family member is diagnosed with HIV/AIDS the whole family suffers. Since Christmas is around the corner following World AIDS Day, we would like to try and provide a family (or more) with some joy and an opportunity to celebrate Christmas. If everyone brought an item of non-perishable food, or a generic gift for a child, we could make this Christmas a more joyous occasion for another family. We are asking ISM students to bring in their goods throughout next week. All food or gift donations can be deposited in the library. Please make a difference. M3 Life Skills Class | |

Parents' Association Annual General MeetingThe Parents' Association Annual General Meeting will be held at KIA Lodge from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, November 20. We will arrange a school bus to KIA Lodge leaving from the main car park in Moshi Campus that afternoon at 3pm and returning to Moshi immediately after the meeting. Parents are very welcome to join the bus - if you are planning to do so, could you please phone the CEO's secretary on 2755004, 2755005 or 2751850 on Monday or Tuesday morning to let her know.Nominations for the new Parents' Association Committee may be submitted in advance to the CEO's secretary by 5pm on Monday either by email to the school address: or by written note. You may, of course, nominate a parent from either campus of the school. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the meeting. Nominated candidates must indicate their willingness to serve on the committee. If you would like to read the terms of reference of the Parents' Association, these are available at www.ismoshi.org/pa_tor.pdf on the school website. Annual Report 2006/07For the first time, International School Moshi has now published our Annual Report for the school year 2006/07. This report includes a summary of the developments in the school over the year as well as the outline figures from the income and expenditure report. You may download a copy from www.ismoshi.org/ismreport0607.pdf or collect a printed copy at the Parents' Association meeting on Tuesday.Academic HonestyWith the increased use of electronic media including the internet, the copying of other people's work and identifying it as one's own has become considerably more widespread. The International Baccalaureate Organisation, and other academic bodies with which we deal, take any issues of academic dishonesty extremely seriously. For example, a student who is found to have copied even one or two sentences in an essay submitted to IBO, without identifying their source, is likely to have their results in that subject cancelled and hence could fail to obtain their MYP Certificate or IB Diploma. We have discussed this with all our senior students and strongly emphasised the possible consequences of academic dishonesty. We have also asked all senior students to sign a document to say that they have read the school's Academic Honesty Policy. If you also wish to read this please click here.School PhotosYesterday, Thursday 15th November, a photographer came to the school and took portrait photos of each individual student as well as class group photographs.
