If you would like further details of the secondary activities, please see www.worldmathsday.com, or see our flier here for primary activities.French volunteerWe are seeking a French speaker who could possibly volunteer for some hours per week to assist in some of our secondary French classes. With a recent influx of new students who have not previosuly studied French, a person who could support the teacher in the class could prove of great benefit. If you know of someone who may be able to help, please let us know.Ownership and use of Student WorkIn order for us to be able to send students' work to assessment bodies such as the IBO for assessment, we are required to ensure that we (ISM) have a legal licence to do so. We also want to be able to use student work for our own in-school teacher training and for display purposes. We are therefore planning to introduce the following policy:"This policy relates to all work created by International School Moshi students as part of a course of study within the school, using any materials provided by the school, or undertaken under the guidance of a teacher in the school. Such work is the copyright of the student who created the work; however the student is deemed to have granted International School Moshi a non-exclusive world-wide licence for the duration of the statutory copyright protection to use the materials for reference, display, training, publicity or other purposes and to retain or reproduce the material as necessary for these purposes. Normally the student may apply to have this work permanently returned to them and to keep this work twelve months after they leave the school. Student work submitted by the School to the IBO or other assessment body is deemed to have been licensed to that assessment body for use as described above." M4 Field StudyThe M4 class are undertaking field study next week - they will be travelling to Babati and, from there, visiting the sites of the rock paintings at Kolo. The emphasis of the trip will be on the arts. The students will be away from Monday, 3rd to Friday, 7th March.M1 Field StudyM1 students from both campuses will be undertaking their own field study the following week from Monday 10th to Thursday, 13th March. All parents of M1s will receive a letter with details shortly.Class CoordinatorsIn the primary school we already have established Class Coordinators amongst the parents who are helping to organise primary events and assist in communicating with different parents. The Parent Association is keen to extend this arrangement into the secondary school and to have a class coordinator for each of the M1 to S5 and D1 to D2 classes. The main function will be to represent the interests of parents of students in that class to the Parent Association and to enhance communication betwen parents, the PA and the school. If you are interested in taking on this role, please contact the Parent Association on .Soccer SevensThe Annual Kilimanjaro Soccer Sevens tournament will take place on the Moshi Campus on Saturday, 8th March. This term, both S5 and D2 students will receive full reports on all subjects they have studied in school. The other secondary classes will receive full reports in June. All secondary students will receive grade cards showing their achievement and effort grades for this period. Reports and grade cards will be issued on Monday, 17th March. As usual, there will be meetings in Karibu Hall for secondary teachers and parents on Wednesday, 19th March between 10:30am and 12noon.SAT and TOEFL testsWe recommend that all students in D1 who are considering studying in the USA or Canada should take SAT tests in May this year. Also all students in D1 who do not have English as their mother tongue and who wish to study in the USA or in some other countries are expected to take a TOEFL test in May. Registrations for these tests need to be done online and we advise that they are fully completed by 18th March. Payment must be made by credit card.
