Dear Parents, We wish our Hard Labour Group all the best as they work this weekend at Light in Africa in Boma N'gombe to clear a car park area and plant bananas for this orphanage and children's home. A large group of diploma students is working there as part of their community service programme. Website Additions
Congratulations to Mawenzi House who won the secondary Sports Day last Thursday. Two pages of photos are now on the school website. We have also uploaded a series of photos from last weekend's Pare Mountains OP Trip.

Many D2 students may want to take TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) tests in November. This test is necessary for certain nationalities who wish to study in North America. The registration deadline for these is 1st October - please contact Keiron White before 24th September if help is needed to arrange payment.PSAT Tests
All M5 students have now been registered for the Preliminary SAT Tests which take place on Wednesday, 15th October (unless parents have previously advised us otherwise). These students have been taking special weekly classes to help them prepare for this test.Primary Assembly
This week KG showed the school some of the things that they could do and choices that they made to show how they are unique. Narelle read our progressive story called the "Runaway Cake" which was written by the whole school as part of Literacy Day.Mama Mvungi and Madame Laborde will be organising this week's assembly which will be our final primary assembly for this half term. Primary Athletics Day (30th September)
Students and teachers have been busy organising and preparing for our primary school Athletics day. Since teachers and teaching assistants will be running different activities, we would like to ask that each class has two parent representatives to take students to the different stations. Please let the class teachers know if you are willing to assist us on the day.Ballroom Dancing
Primary Clubs: Students attended the first session of ballroom dancing and seem to have had quite a bit fun working with Amanda. We also had a good turn out for the first adult lessons in the evening in Karibu Hall at 6pm for our Salsa and Latin dancing enthusiasts, followed by ballroom dancing from 7-8pm. If you are still intending to join, you're most welcome to come and join everyone next Thursday for TSh 5,000/- an hour. Lost and Found
Please make sure that your child's belongings are labelled. Should any of your child's things go missing please remind your child to check with Anita first at the front office. Most things do tend to find their way there. Primary Swimming
Now that the weather is warming up, any child who is unable to go swimming needs to bring a note from home. Students who forget their swimming costumes or don't have a note will have to use old swimming costumes from room 1. Students who are at school and are not well enough to swim will be doing supervised work in the classroom while the others are swimming. They will also not be allowed on the field or playgrounds during break times.Idd el Fittr
At the end of the Islamic Holy month of Ramadan, there are two days of national holiday to celebrate the event. The dates of this holiday will not be announced until the night immediately before the holiday (when the moon has been sighted) which has caused some difficulties for some families. This year ISM has planned to celebrate the Idd on Thursday and Friday, 2nd and 3rd October. Therefore there WILL be classes on Wednesday, 1st October irrespective of any official announcements and we will expect all students to attend on this day. Of course, Muslim students will be excused attendance at school if their own celebrations of Idd occur earlier than this.Wednesday, 1st October
There will be classes and an assembly for all students on Wednesday, 1st October from 7:30am to 10:15am. After this time students will be free to return home. From 10:35 to 12 noon there will be meetings for parents of secondary students and their teachers in Karibu Hall, aimed at providing an opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress with his/her teachers. Primary teachers will also be available from 10:35am to meet with parents of children in their class. Primary teachers will have time sheets for interviews pasted on their doors for parents to fill in.Secondary Reports
All secondary students in M1 to D1 will receive a one page interim report on their child's progress by the half term break. Students in D2 will received a more detailed full report. These reports will be issued to students on Monday, 29th September. In order that we have sufficient time to prepare these properly, it is not possible for us to issue reports early for any student.Half Term Holiday Travel
Please ensure that your child's boarding parent knows how your child will be travelling for half term on 1st October and returning on 14th October. If you need any help with travel arrangements, please contact Sunita Somaiya on .Kilimanjaro Rugby Sevens
The Kilimanjaro Rugby 7s, which features an adult tournament for clubs from Tanzania and Kenya, and an under-19 schools tournament, will be held on Saturday, 4th October on the Moshi Campus playing fields. All are welcome to support and enjoy the event.US Consular Services
The United States Embassy will be providing consular services to US citizens on ISM Arusha Campus on Tuesday, 30th September and on Moshi Campus on Wednesday, 1st October (times to be announced).
