I hope that all parents will have received last week's letter from the CEO informing you of the new fees package available for boarders in P3 to M4. We hope that this significant step will attract a number of new families to the school. I would like to ask all current ISM families to let others know of this package and to help us to provide the increase in our enrolment numbers that we seek. The package is described on the website at www.ismoshi.org/fees.

Secondary News

Field Trips

The first Secondary class trip was a huge success, with S5 students from both Arusha and Moshi campuses travelling to Tarangire National Park. Class trips are an opportunity for students to learn in a field environment, bond with classmates from both campuses, and enjoy the beauty of Tanzania. The next trip will be the M2 class trip to Pangani early next month. That trip date has been changed to accommodate the Id al Fitr holiday and the half-term break. The trip will now take place 1-5 October. Parents of students in M2 should have already received information regarding that trip and the changed date.

Moshi Sports Weekend

The ISM PE department has organized a wonderful weekend of athletic events for next Friday and Saturday, 21-22 September. The students and teachers are all excited about the opportunity to play sports with our counterparts at the Moshi campus.

Student Council

The Student Council organized a very successful Movie Night last Friday. The students did the work themselves, had an enjoyable time watching the movie, Transformers, and raised money for the projects they want to plan this year. Their next steps are to plan a student disco, coordinate with the Primary Student Council regarding some school rules, and identify areas that need input and organization by the Secondary Student Council.

Over the next few weeks you will see a transfer of research skills in the following ways:
  • P5/6 will be inquiring into how the world works through an exploration into simple machines and how they operate according to the laws and principles of physics in order to make our work / lives easier
  • P3/4 will also be inquiring into how the world works from the perspective that all living things can be classified according to their characteristics, habits and habitats.
  • P1/2 will in inquiring into where we are in time and place and finding out the different reasons people move around the world.
  • Early Childhood will continue with their unit related to being part of a community.
If you think you could be a resource person, or if you know someone who may be able to share expertise or knowledge with our students related to any of these units of inquiry, please do not hesitate in contacting the class teacher or myself on
