Next week, M3 & M5 students will set off on a level 3 trip, accompanied by Mr. Schofield.Academic HonestyISM attempts to motivate all members of our learning community to become principled, which means “having a sound grasp of the principles of moral reasoning and demonstrating personal integrity, honesty and a sense of fairness and justice.” We have spoken with students this week about the importance of being honest, and citing sources when submitting academic work. There have been some cases recently where students have plagiarized, using other people’s work and submitting it as their own. We ask all parents to speak with your children about the need for honesty, and being principled in indicating when some part of a work comes from someone else.John Iglar Head of Secondary Primary NewsAt the end of last term Mrs. Helen Iglar went to Lusaka for a PYP workshop. This is a brief summary of her experience and her observations of the connections of the IBO and current practices at ISM.
Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart Try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given because you would not be able to live them. And the point is: to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, Live along some distant day into the answer. P5/6 Simple Machines Celebration of LearningThank you to all parents and friends who came to celebrate the creative, knowledgeable works of our P5/6 scientists. The use of levers, ramps and pulleys to put together both simple and complex machines was inspiring.Betty Brown Head of Primary Student Council say a big THANK YOU!Hallowe'en Party ReportIt was with much excitement that approximately 60 primary school children arrived at school on Friday 2nd November at 6.30pm to celebrate Hallowe'en. On arrival they were given a stamp of a black bat on their hands to show they had paid to get into the party. By following the black footprints from the entrance, they found their way to the performance area which had been decorated with witches, bats, dragons, and crêpe paper streamers in red, black and white. A pizza competition and a costume competition were held, and luckily, a few people won a few prizes, which included slime, water bombs, books and stickers. During the night, the children were able to buy potions to drink called names like blood punch, the witches’ brew and human eyeballs! People also brought plates of “scary” food to share… we saw some things there that looked very much like human fingers! AAAAHHHHHH!With all of the great music, fun dancing, incredible costumes and crazy games, we think that the night was a huge success. Than you all for coming and supporting the Primary Student Council. We raised 64,000/- at the door and 119.000/- from drink sales. We would like to thank he following people for their help and good ideas in planning for our party:
Thanks all of you Primary Student Council |
