Dear Parents,US Embassy VisitRepresentatives from the US Embassy will offer consular services on the Arusha Campus this coming week, on the last day of term, Wednesday 19th March, from 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in the drama room.Primary UniformAfter considering a wide variety of parental views on the subject, SMT has decided to extend the simple Primary uniform across the whole primary school. Details about where and when the uniform polo shirts may be purchased on Arusha Campus will be forthcoming.Pool Changing RoomsThe pool changing rooms will be closed during the Easter break as we will be doing renovations to improve the facilities. The pool will remain open.LAMDAFirst week of term, Wednesday the 9th: P4 - P6 will have their first Lamda lesson.On Monday 14th of April will be the first lesson for P1-P3 classes. Anyone who wants to join the Lamda classes next term is welcome. Tuition fees are $50 per term and $50 exam fees. SummitWe are still looking to fill the last ¼ page advert for the school magazine, The Summit. Expose your business to an audience of 1000 + for only $150! Again, please contact Sarah if you are interested.Class CoordinatorsThe Parent Association is keen to established Class Coordinators amongst the parents in each of the primary and secondary classes to help organise events and assist in communicating with different parents. The main function will be to represent the interests of parents of students in that class to the Parent Association and to enhance communication between parents, the PA and the school. If you are interested in taking on this role, please contact the Parent Association on .Car Park UseIf you are coming on to campus at the weekends especially I would ask you to park in the car park and not drive on to the field or near the pool. We need to keeps cars in the car park for safety and security reasons.Kili MarathonThe money raised from sponsorship in the Kilimanjaro Marathon has now come in at a total of US$615 profit for the ISM Scholarship Programme. Adrian Moody Head of Campus Primary NewsStudent led CelebrationsA very warm 'Thank you' to all families for the fantastic turn out to our Student led Celebrations yesterday! WOW!Congratulations to all our primary students for taking on the responsibility of being the leader for the session. They showed a developmentally appropriate confidence, independence and commitment as well as their knowledge and understanding of a number of skills and concepts. The following feedback from parents shows evidence that our students, through authentic learning engagements have been supported to take action and ownership of their learning. Heat and RehydrationThis week it has become apparent that our students in the primary school are not drinking enough water. We have had a number of cases of headaches and lethargy. Can you please encourage and support your child to make sure they fill their dink bottles and keep drinking during the day; we will continue to do the same at school. Much appreciated.Run Jump Throw CarnivalThere was great excitement today as our house teams met to plan their attach for next Wednesday's Run Jump Throw Athletics Carnival.Chants have been written, house uniforms coordinated and strategies planned. The house captains really did a motivational job!. The day will start at 8.30 with a 'march past' of our house teams. Students are asked to go directly to their classes in the morning; from there they will meet with their secondary house buddies and make their way to the large field. I would like to thank the school 'Social Committee' for organising refreshments for our students and parents on the day. If you are able to help out, I am sure your assistance would be most appreciated. Please remember to bring lots of fluids for your children, hats, sunscreen and most importantly their house colour T-Shirt! House T-Shirts and hats can be purchased from Loise at reception. Betty Brown Head of Primary Sports NewsRun, Jump and Throw Carnival!On Wednesday, March 19th, from 8:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. the term will end with a whole-school morning of running, jumping, throwing and other exciting activities. Students will be participating for their houses: Blue House - Kibo, Green House - Mawenzi and Yellow House - Meru. Parents are most welcome to come and be part of the fun.SportsCongratulations to the four teams that travelled to Moshi this past Saturday for the annual soccer 7s extravaganza. Both girls' teams made the semi finals, the A team losing 1-0 to Moshi in the finals.The boys' division was packed with strong competition. ECAAn exciting new round of activities is in the works for Term 3. Kicking off on Monday April 14 - Wednesday May 28. This action packed 7 week programme features: Mixed football, Tree Seedling and Soap Opera to name a few.Please note: London Academy of Music Drama and Arts (L.A.M.D.A) will start the first Wednesday back, April 9 for the Wednesday group and Monday April 14 for the Monday group.
