International School Moshi Arusha Campus News - 12th September 2008
Dear Parents,
Idd el Fittr
At the end of the Islamic Holy month of Ramadan, there are two days of national holiday to celebrate the event. The dates of this holiday will not be announced until the night immediately before the holiday (when the moon has been sighted) which has caused some difficulties for some families. This year ISM has planned to celebrate the Idd on Thursday and Friday, 2nd and 3rd October. Therefore there WILL be classes on Wednesday, 1st October irrespective of any official announcements and we will expect all students to attend on this day. Of course, Muslim students will be excused attendance at school if their own celebrations of Idd occur earlier than this.
Wednesday, 1st October
There will be classes and an assembly for all students on Wednesday, 1st October from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. After this time students will be free to return home.
Blues hour
The Blues Hour planned for next Thursday, September 18th, has been postponed. As an international school we understand that this is a very important month for the many members of our Muslim community and therefore we will hold this event another time later in the year when all parents will be able to attend.
Outdoor Pursuits - Pares Mountains
Our second OP trip this term is a Level One trip to the Pares Mountains this Saturday/Sunday, September 13th and 14th.

Primary News
Dear Parents,
Scholastic Book Club
You will have received this week a catalogue for your child's grade level to order books from the scholastic book club. The deadline for returning orders is Friday, 19th September.
Below you will find an explanation of the order procedure. The catalogues that you receive will quote prices in US Dollars. We will convert those prices to Tanzanian Shillings and add in shipping costs as well.
Club Members' orders, which are usually the last 2 items on the order sheet, are for the US only. DO NOT make Club Member orders.
Orders will only be entered when the order form, along with the correct change in Tanzanian shillings, is returned to the school.
To calculate your payment, simply multiply the $ Dollar value by 2,000 TSh. This conversion will allow us to include the cost of shipping. Please round dollar value to nearest dollar - for example: $2.95 = $3.00. $3.00 x 2,000 TSh = 6,000 TSh.
We hope you and your child will enjoy the read and learn experience.
