Pavel Khlopovski performed to an enthusiastic crowd on Sunday night. Thank you to all the parents who supported this event. We intend to have more of these evenings as the year progresses. Thank you to Sandra, Joyce, Nafisa, Gill, Loise and Yolanda and the ISM support and ancillary staff for the organization before and on the night and to Stiggy for providing the food. Coconut Chicken
The succulent smells permeating from the EC kitchen on Wednesday were extraordinary as Alli demonstrated his Coconut Chicken to a group of budding connoisseur tasters. The taste was amazing and the group left with the recipe and inspiration. In two weeks we will have another cooking demonstration in the EC room from 2pm. Details to follow. Please join us. Thank you Alli!Security On Campus
We have recently improved security on campus by out sourcing to Ultimate Security. You will notice the new guards as you drive into the campus. Please note that they will only let cars onto campus that display the ISM sticker. This will be enforced from next week. If you have any questions about security you are welcome to contact me.Shade Netting
The PA is fundraising to cover part of the hard court with shade netting. Thank you to Bas Bruins from TANZANIA FLOWERS and DEKKER BRUINS co. for kindly donating shade cloth and steel wire to support. Please help by donating a pole, or part of the construction so that we can get the shade net up before Christmas time and kids will be able to enjoy the sports ground more during the summermonths. Thanks again to Bas Bruins for his kind donation of Shade cloth and steel wire.
The social club has picked up on the idea. If you wish to donate please contact Madeline Oosterhuis on 0754-817333 or at who is organizing the fundraising of the shade cloth. Looking forward to all your kind donations!Dates to remember

Dear Parents,M4 Photography Exhibit
The M4 class is presenting their Artwork - photographs and music - tonight in the Performance Area. All are welcome to come see their photographs on "The Face of Tanzania" from 6:30 p.m.Being Accomplished: College Fair in Moshi
Tomorrow, the M5 class will travel to the Moshi campus to meet representatives of colleges and universities from the United States and Canada. The students will learn more about programmes of study, scholarships, university life, the application process, and more. They will have the chance to talk with the representatives and begin the process of considering university studies. We hope that this helps our M5 students to start thinking forward to university and
preparing themselves for being successful there. You are what you watch and do
I read several news items this week about two studies on the behaviour of teenagers that struck me as important for all parents and teachers to know about. Both looked at the effects on teenage behaviour of typical forms of teenage entertainment. One (studying children in the US and Japan) showed that children and teenagers who played violent videogames exhibited more aggressive behaviour, got into fights more often, etc. even up to three months later. The other (studying children in Europe) showed that teenagers who watched more sexually suggestive television programming were more likely to become pregnant (or, for boys, cause a pregnancy). On reading these studies, it struck me that seemingly innocuous activities such as watching television and playing games can influence our behaviour and affect our activities. (I wonder about whether similar effects might be caused by violent/aggressive or suggestive music, films, etc.) It seems that it would be wise for all parents to know what kinds of activities and entertainments our children are engaging in,
and to discuss ethical and moral behaviour with them, and help our children make wise choices in the kinds of activities and entertainments they indulge in. (If you would like to read the study yourself, please feel free to email me and I'll
send you the hyperlink.)Regards John Iglar Head of Secondary Primary News
