Arusha Campus News - 24th April 2009
Dear Parents,
Contact and Emergency Numbers
This is very important. If you change your phone number please inform Loise if you have a new telephone number or new emergency number. If your children are sick and need to go home or if there is an accident we need to be able to reach you or your emergency contact. We have had several situations lately where parents have not been able to be contacted.
New Director Visit
Our new Director for next year, Bob Woods, will be visiting ISM during next week. He will visit both campuses. He will be in Arusha during the second half of the week. The PA is planning a coffee morning for him to meet with parents; the PA will send out more information in a separate mailing.
ABRSM Practical Exams
We have been advised that these are likely to take place in the week beginning 16th May 2009. Further details are yet to be confirmed however the exams will take place in Moshi. The school will provide transport to Moshi for Arusha students taking the examination.
Notice of Withdrawal
I am repeating this message because it is important that all parents be aware that they are responsible for providing 30 school days' (excluding weekends and school holidays) written notice of withdrawal of a child from school, in lieu of which they are liable to pay ½ term's fees. Therefore, if you are intending not to return next academic year please let me know in plenty of time with written notice.

Secondary News

Dear Parents,
Study Tips
As the students get prepared for their end of year assessments at the end of May, I ask all parents to help your child(ren) study and revise. They all have a revision guide with information about their assessments and how & what to study. I'll repeat some of the advice here:
  • Students: make sure you have a space set aside for study/revision.
  • Clean your area. Make it tidy! Move away anything you won't need and keep the things you need for study & revision.
  • Post up a calendar and your Study Times worksheets. Use these to keep track of your work and your assessments.
  • Make sure you have all the resources listed above handy! If you need some at school, make sure you bring them home whenever you plan to study. If you can, leave them at home in your work area.
  • Make sure you have materials: paper, pencils, pens, erasers, ruler, compass, calculator, dictionaries, grid paper, highlighters, etc.
  • If you have a computer handy, use it, but don't get distracted by Facebook or games or chatting! When you're studying, study!
Hongera sana!
Bravo to Avita Soor, Sophie-Dorothe Lieke and Loise Mbuyu for passing their Level 1 Theory ABRSM exams! They all passed with distinction!
