Visual Arts with Linda Willms
How can I express an opinion visually through mixed media? This week M4 continued their media experiments and visited WHAT Gallery to see an exhibition of mixed media paintings by Jason Corder. Jasons paintings "concern the relationship between the viewer and the earth and the subtle manifestations and various directions that these relationships can take." Although the subject matter did not relate directly to their current unit, M4 benefited from this exhibition and the artist's statement. They took a close look at his work in the context of his ideas and the variety of media he utilizes. They were surprised to find everything from passport pages to termite wings in Corder's work.
Outdoor Pursuits (OP) and Co-Curricular activities (CCA)
The OP programme consists of challenges ranging from level 1 (easiest) to level 5 (hardest). Last weekend, three of our M5 students Anna Catharina Lieke, Amaar Nanabhai, and Imran Khanbhai successfully climbed up Uhuru Peak on the top of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in the continent. They were joined by Charles Schofield, Marcello Mongardi and Meike Hooglugt as well as Diploma students from the Moshi campus. Unfortunately, Luke Simonson was ready to face the challenge but had to pull out of the expedition at the last minute.
Once again, we appeal to parents who are interested in running a co-curricular activity on either Mondays or Wednesdays in the new year to contact Charles Schofield at .
Moshi Sports Weekend is starting on Friday 11 December.
M1
Many of you are aware that Mr. Love is soon expecting an addition to the family and so he may be out of school at any moment! Mr. O'Boyle will act as interim tutor for M1s.

Primary News
Kili katz
This week our P3,4,5,6 students traveled to Moshi to view the dress rehearsal of the Moshi campus whole school production of Kili KatZ. Highlights for our students were:
I like the old cat because her clothes and make up made her look old and she had a great voice"
I liked it when Conrad sang and danced as the rock and roll cat, I could tell he was nervous but he did a great job"
The music really tied the show together, Mr, Khari plays a mean soprano saxophone"
The stage had lots of different levels, I liked it when the cats crawled out through the big tyre"
I wish we could have seen the show at night because then we would have seen all the different lighting"
We would like to thank the Moshi students and teachers for sharing their show with us and we look forward to sharing our "Safi ISM Circus" with them in January.
Safi ISM Circus
In all classes students have been working hard to consolidate their knowledge and understanding of their current units of inquiry. As the primary production is an opportunity for students to share their learning we have felt it necessary to move our performance to January. Safi ISM Circus will now be performed on: Dress Rehearsal - Wednesday 20th January, Matinee - Thursday 21st at 10.20 and an evening performance at 7pm. All P3,4,5,6 students are bringing home the words to our show song which was written by a group of students. The words in the song they have composed will give you an insight into what you will see. I have attached a copy of the words to this primary news.
Share Time Assembly
Congratulations to our P3/4 students who confidently shared their learning on stage today. Their plays were humorous, the poetry was well crafted and the singing was energetic, not to mention the skill of the acrobats, clowns and jugglers!.
PYP Evaluation Self Study
If you would like to read through a copy of our Self Study document please feel free to do so. Copies can be found: In the school library, at reception and from my room.
Inter House Swim Gala
Don't forget this very enjoyable day: Friday 18 December.
