Dear Parents, I would like to thank you all for attending the Parent, Teacher, Child Conference day yesterday. We hope this was a rewarding experience for the parents as well as for the students and teachers. Many thanks for the feedback that you gave to the class teachers regarding the new report format. We will now consider the comments made and endeavour to improve things still further. Basketball ClubI would like to advise you that this club has finished for the term and will not be offered for Terms 2 or 3. However, if there is a parent who would like to volunteer to take the basketball session then the activity could be re-instated. Please see me if you are interested in running the basketball club – the students are very enthusiastic for it to continue!Rugby ClubThis is a reminder that there will not be rugby club this Monday, December 3rd, as Mr. Macha will be traveling abroad. Please note that there will be rugby club on Monday December 10th.P3/4 Residential Trip – December 6th and 7thThe P3/4 class will be joining one of the P3/4 classes from Arusha Campus for their overnight camp next Thursday and Friday. The students will leave school on Thursday morning and return to Moshi by 2pm on Friday. We all wish them a wonderful time.Assembly on December 7thThe P5/6 members of the Gymnastics club, which is organised and run by Narelle, will be performing a display for the assembly on December 7th. Please note that this assembly will be at 7.40am in Karibu Hall.Assemblies in Terms 2 and 3Some primary parents have approached me with a request to consider moving the assembly time on Fridays from 9.30am to 7.40am. All of the teachers are happy to make this change in times so I would like to propose that we make this change for the new term. If any parents feel that this change will cause them any problems then I would be grateful if you could contact me to discuss the situation.Water Bottles in ClassroomsAll of the students should be drinking water throughout the day and as such I would ask all parents to ensure that your child(ren) have a water bottle in school everyday. Teachers will encourage the students to have their water bottles on their desks at all times so that they can take sips of water whenever they need to. It is well documented in Brain Research that when dehydration happens it is the brain that dehydrates first. If you have a child in P6 you can ask them for more details about this as I have stressed the importance of drinking water regularly to them and this was vehemently re-inforced by Dr. Mubarak when he talked with the students a couple of weeks ago.N.B. These should be water bottles not juice! After School Clubs for Terms 2 and 3Are there any parents who would like to volunteer to take a Primary Club in Terms 2 and 3? This could be any activity that you enjoy that you think the students would like to get involved in. The older primary students are particularly keen to have a Dance Club again so if there is anyone who could offer such a club or if you know of someone who might be able to take such a club please let me know.I would like to thank all of the staff and parents who have offered clubs to the primary students throughout the current term. Christmas Production – December 13th at 7pmIn two weeks time the P6 students and the primary students will be presenting their Christmas production, ‘Christmas Chaos in Lapland’. This will be part of an evening arranged by Mr. Jones and will be staged in the Dining Hall starting at 7pm. Everyone is welcome so please come and join in with the ‘Chaos’, and some Christmas songs too!PYP Exhibition – P6As you are all no doubt aware the P6 students will host the PYP Exhibition at the end of the academic year. Originally the exhibition was to be opened on Thursday 5th June in the evening but I must advise you that the opening of the exhibition will now be on Wednesday June 4th at 7pm in Karibu Hall.PYP Curriculum CornerMs. Rosi’s Curriculum Corner is attached for your information and enjoyment.I have you all have a relaxing weekend. Kind regards Kathy Slocombe Head of Primary |
