Dear Parents, Last week the P5/6 class went to Magara for their residential trip. Despite the delay to the start of the trip, when Mr. Bush decided to pay Arusha a visit, it would appear that they all had a wonderful and enjoyable time in a beautiful location. I am very envious that I was not able to make the trip with them. The four day long trip took a great deal of organisation especially as the three P5/6 classes from the Arusha Campus were also involved in the trip. I would like to thank David for all the time and effort he put into this trip to make it a memorable experience for the students. I would also like to thank Isaac, our OP. Supervisor, Chris Slocombe and Debbie Garbett (who went in my absence) for escorting the students for the four days. Variety Show on Friday February 29th at 7pm in Karibu HallThis Friday evening many of the ISM students will be performing their chosen 'act' at the annual ISM Variety Show. Everybody is invited to watch the evening’s entertainment and as always the event sounds like an interesting mixture of dance, music and song.In order to prepare for the Variety Show, Mr. Jones has to have use of the hall for this week. In view of this all primary after school activities that usually take part in Karibu Hall are cancelled for the week. I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you but I think that you will understand the need for this arrangement. AssembliesThis Friday, February 29th at 7.40am our assembly will be an International Mother Tongue assembly and we would like to invite all parents to attend. We will start the assembly promptly at 7.40am in Room 15. We hope to see you there.Next Friday March 7th the P3/4 class will be performing their class assembly in Room 15 at 7.40am. This is a change to the current assembly rota which says that the P1/2 class will be performing their assembly at that time. World Maths Day - Wednesday March 5thWednesday March 5th is World Maths Day and ISM students from the primary and secondary schools have been registered to take part in this world wide event. Attached you will find a flyer that gives some details about the primary school's plans for the day and a request for some volunteer parents to join us for the day.Skateboarding ClubI would like to inform parents that if your child participates in the Skateboarding club on Tuesdays, she or he must wear a helmet. From next Tuesday any child who does not have their helmet at school for this club will not be allowed to participate in the session.Elliott, who is taking this club, has offered to take all the skateboarders to a friend's skateboarding ramp on Tuesday March 18th. He would like to make this a really special session for the students by including a picnic lunch into this trip. If your child attends the Skateboarding club and you would like them to attend this afternoon activity on March 18th please e-mail me and advise me of this fact. Please note that the students will only be allowed on the skateboarding ramp if they are wearing a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. We would also be grateful of some parental assistance on that day to drive the students to the skateboard ramp location. TortoisesAs you are all aware, there are six tortoises currently living by the primary garden area. We are giving these tortoises away to caring homes and if you would like to become a surrogate parent to a tortoise please e-mail me as soon as possible. Two of the tortoise are already spoken for, so come quick!Reports and Student Led Conference DayThis is to remind you that the students in P1 to P6 will be taking home their Portfolios and Written Reports for the third and fourth units of inquiry on Tuesday March 11th.
