P4 - Ancient Egypt
The cast of P4's assembly on Ancient Egypt
During term two, the two P5 classes were learning about Ancient Greece. They made Greek vases and painted humungous gods and goddesses. They also read lots of Greek myths and legends. In groups they picked a myth and turned it into a short play. Some of the plays were called Pandora's Box, King Midas, Theseus and the Minotaur, Echo and Narcissus, and of course, Jadson and the Golden Fleece. In order to act the part, P5 dressed up as Greeks and tasted Greek food.

In February, one of the P3 classes performed a play based on the book The Great Kapok Tree. Mrs Higginbottom was the funniest character - she took her students to the rain forest and they got lost. She told them a story about a tree in the rain forest. A jaguar lived in a kapok tree and a man wanted to cut the tree down. There were many animals living in the tree. Whle the man was resting, the animals taked to him and said, Please don't cut down our tree. In the end the hunter threw his axe away and the tree was saved. The animals showed Mrs Higginbottom and her students how to get out of the rain forest.

March saw the DP5 class perform The Rough-Faced Girl which is a north American tale. It was about a girl who was always teased by her sisters. The sisters wanted to marry the Invisible Being because he was rich, powerful and handsome, but they didn't succeed - poor them! In the end the Rough-Faced Girl married the Invisible Being. After they were married everyone danced around them except for the two hard-hearted sisters. Well done, Diane and DP5!!
