| Jazz Day 2003 received an enthusiastic response from the Arusha community. On the evening of Saturday March 1st, an animated audience grooved and gyrated to scintillating swinging syncopations from the brand new ‘Big Band from Scratch’ and rocked and revelled to the remarkable reverberating rhythms of the band from the Heritage Faith Christian Centre of Arusha. | |

| Around a dozen players - students, parents, staff and friends - who formed the ‘big band from scratch’ rehearsed from 11.00 until 5.00. Participants ranged from seasoned ‘jazzers’ to players who had never ventured into jazz before. After a day of persistent practice (and pleasure) the band was able to perform nine pieces with praiseworthy proficiency and pizzazz (if not perfect precision!). Their inspired interpretations included impeccable introductions, and incredible improvisations. | |
