Welcome to ISM Panga Club Web page - Learn More about How to Use African Customary Tools

International School Moshi (Moshi Campus) has established a new CAS program called African Cultural Studies (a.k.a. Panga Club) under the leadership of two polite and friendly teachers, Mr. Eaton and Mr. Hopkins (sometimes called 'Hippo'), as well as, our expert Mr. Jacob. The name "Panga Club" implies the use of a Panga (see picture above) .  The program began in August in the new school year 2004/2005 . The program started off with a total of 30 members. We started with learning how to chop and handle trees, and finally we are in the process of building a nice wood house. You are welcome to join us at the Duplex Center to see our hut.

What do we mean by the term Panga Club? "Panga Club means mud fight and mud bath" (Vidar).
"
This is not true; Panga Club means the use of a Panga" (Daniel).

What are the merits of this Project?  It is to defend yourself in the bush against enemies, and most importantly  is to build a nice, cool and attractive hut where people may enjoy themselves. This is what we have done.
