|Invitation to Julie Thaarup’s Funeral
Arusha Campus 5 days ago
It is with love and humble acceptance of God’s will that the family of Julie Thaarup invites friends, church members, her school community and all who loved Julie to attend her funeral service on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Arusha Community Church.
The funeral will begin at 9:00 am. Please plan to arrive by 8:30 am. ACC shares grounds with Arusha Lutheran Medical Center and a hospital event will occupy the parking lot of the church on Saturday morning. Thus, we ask you to ride together with others or use taxis to minimize the number of vehicles.
Following the funeral service, the cortege will leave ACC to travel to the family home of Julie’s husband, Manase Swai, at Machame, where the burial will take place at 3 pm.
Please keep holding Julie’s family in prayers in this difficult time of sorrow.
Yours in Christ,
Rebecca Mosley, for Arusha Community Church
|Important Joseph Production Update
Moshi Campus 6 days ago
If any of you were lucky enough to catch today’s Joseph rehearsal then you will know that we are in for a musical treat on Thursday and Friday. The energy on the stage and in the chorus was amazing. I do hope you will be able to attend. Tickets will be on sale on the door (10,000 Tsh for adults and 5000 Tsh for children.)
If your child is participating as an actor, musician, stage hand or PYP chorus member please ensure they are at K Hall at 5:30 pm on both Thursday and Friday evening.
The performance will end at 8:00pm. The children should eat a meal before they arrive so that they have enough energy to last the evening. The PYP chorus should wear their Joseph T-shirts (which look wonderful.)
There will be an intermission halfway through the performance and snacks will be on sale. There will also be a lovely commemorative programme on sale at the event.
I will write my thanks in this week’s newsletter but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the students, staff, parents and community members who have helped with this event. The buzz on campus has been wonderful. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday and/or Friday evening to support our children.

Dear ISM Arusha Community,
It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our parents, Mrs Julie Thaarup, died on Friday 30th November. I understand that this was sudden but followed a period of feeling unwell.
Julie is survived by her son Marcus in P3 and husband Manase. Our thoughts and prayers are with Julie’s family at this difficult time.
|ISTA Theatre Festival
Arusha Campus 1 week ago
We are delighted to announce that ISM Arusha Campus will be hosting an International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) festival from 10th-12th May, 2019. ISTA is a fantastic organisation which brings professional actors and directors to work with students over three days to create a final performance. Schools will be coming from all over the world. If your son/daughter is interested in drama and theatre, this is an opportunity which should not be missed!
Please see the website for more details: ista.co.uk There is also a video available, which gives more insight, here: vimeo.com/271338526.
We are hosting a middle school festival which will be aimed at 10-14 year olds. The cost for participating students from our school will be approximately 600,000tsh, which includes all of the workshops, transportation to and from trips, and food, plus a t-shirt. We will also require Arusha Campus students who take part to host two students from visiting schools. This will most likely be from 9th-12th May. During this time, some of their meals will be provided by school.
Arusha families who are hosting will need to provide some meals for their visiting students as well as transportation to and from school for rehearsals (which your Arusha students will also be attending).
We have 20-30 places available for each campus and these will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to register your child(ren), please email Miss Arora (Arusha Campus) at firstname.lastname@example.org and George Juma (Moshi Campus) email@example.com.
We are so excited about this amazing opportunity!

ISM on track to be the 2nd UWC in Africa!
On 28th October 2018, ISM was granted preliminary approval to join the United World College movement. This has come on the back of a lot of hard work over a number of years so congratulations must go to all members of our ISM community, past and present.
- The final stage of the process is final approval and ISM will be seeking final approval at the next UWC International Board meeting in March 2019.
- ISM Arusha Campus will open as a residential school in August 2019. Construction of a student residence with capacity for 32 students has already started.
- The School Leadership and faculty has already started planning for increased staffing on both campuses.
- ISM will open in August 2019 as the only UWC in East Africa.
Please email me, firstname.lastname@example.org, with any questions. We are also working on a UWC Frequently Asked Questions section for the school website. More details of this will be in next week’s newsletter.
Subject: CIS Annual Community Survey
The leadership team, teachers, and staff of ISM are interested in what you think about our school, especially in the light of our UWC Preliminary Approval status.
Please take a moment to complete this CIS Community Survey, which will help identify the strengths of the school and areas for improvement.
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We hope you can spare some time to help the school in its desire to improve. The survey will be available until Friday 30th November.
To access the survey, please click on the link that has been sent to you by email.
If you have any questions or need support, please contact email@example.com
Thank you very much for completing the survey.
